Polish producer Umba (a.k.a. Artur Marcinkowksi) has taken influence from “old-school Roland drum machines, Moog synths, and bass/house hybrids” for his debut LP, Dim (due out on January 21 via B.YRSLF). Ahead of that record’s release, Umba sent over synthy album cut “Neon,” which opens with a heavy bassline bashing through an ambient passage before the artist unleashes a salvo of drums and low-end. Sitting somewhere between bass music, acid house, and flirtations with new age, “Neon” fluidly meshes genres while finding a firm balance between cool harmonies and eviscerating electronics.
