Press Play: Machinedrum, Mount Kimbie, Disclosure, SBTRKT, and More
This star-studded edition of Press Play might be about as good as it gets as far as round ups of streaming audio and video are concerned. Seriously, though, we have all sorts of premieres, remixes, mini-docs, record streams, and more from artists like Machinedrum, Mount Kimbie, Kyle Hall, Moby, Disclosure, DJ Rashad, Zed Bias, and SBTRKT, among others. It's a whole lot to take in, so we suggest that all parties interested dive into this sizable offering of music after the jump.
First up, we have the premiere of Machinedrum's remix for AMIT's "Human Warfare." Given the chance to rework the heavy-handed original, Machinedrume softens its blow a bit, but not without injecting the tune with a healthy amount of lightning-fast drums in the process.
In this new mini-doc, UK duo Mount Kimbie discusses the evolution of its sound and approach to live performance, even enlisting a quartet of horns to help on the particular show captured by Noisey's cameras.
The latest producer entrusted with remix duties by Disclosure is Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, who wraps the London pair's "F For You" with new layers of space-age synthesis.
It's been a while since we heard new material from SBTRKT, and while this new remix of Drake's "Girls Love Beyonce" still doesn't quite satisfy our growing appetite, it surely goes to show that SBTRKT's production touch still in fine form.
Appearing as the first single from Moby's forthcoming LP, a video for the string-heavy "A Case for Shame" surfaced this week.
Plucked from the debut release of NYC label Peach, Cromie's & Sage Caswell's "Vines" received a particularly deep and spacey remix at the hands of Detroit's Kyle Hall.
Juke frontrunners DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn shared a new video for their party-minded "She Turnt Up" track—pill-popping, drinking, and a good deal of debauchery ensues.
Avant-pop outfit When Saints Go Machine get an extra does of bass and skip added to its "Iodine" tune thanks to UK veteran Zed Bias (a.k.a. Maddslinky) on this new remix.
Here we have another remix to premiere, this one taking shape as a spacey, disco-minded rework of Thomas Dybdahl's "But We Did" at the hands of Norwegian mastermind Prins Thomas.
Swedish producer/vocalist Bam Spacey shared the lead cut from his upcoming single for the Ceremony label this week, the synth-powered "River."
Gonno is the latest talent to step up for Tim Sweeney's Beats in Space label, sharing the cosmic "Are You Asleep" from his new The Noughties EP.
Toronto producer Deebs has self-released an EP entitled Awry and featuring seven tracks of mind-altering beat work. The EP is available both digitally and as a limited-edition cassette.
The ever-growing Cascine label has remastered and rereleased Boat Club's easy-flowing Caught in the Breeze mini-album, which is now available to stream in full.
