Press Play: Todd Terje, Pearson Sound, Holy Other, Dâm-Funk, and More
This installment of Press Play has plenty of both big-name artists and enticing obscurities from across the spectrum of electronic music. The eclectic collection of downloads, videos, and streams below features new albums, DJ mixes, unreleased singles, and more from the likes of Todd Terje, Cut Copy, Holy Other, Dâm-Funk, Pearson Sound, Hyetal, Deetron, Salva, Artful Dodger, Kid606, Bodhi, Heatsick, and Mumdance, among others. All of the fresh sights and sounds can be experienced in full after the jump.
Though it says the video was filmed in 2012, this clip of Norwegian producer Todd Terje showing off the plethora of gear in his Oslo studio appeared online just this week.
Pearson Sound's Starburst EP will drop on November 11 via Hessle Audio, but before then, its three barebones, bass-loaded tracks can be previewed here.
We haven't heard much from Holy Other in a while, so it was something of a surprise when his remix of "2025" by Until the Ribbon Breaks dropped this week.
Dâm-Funk's and Snoop Dogg's 7 Days of Funk project recently performed two tracks from its upcoming LP for Stones Throw live on Jimmy Kimmel, and then it promptly hit the internet.
"Rydia (Artful Remuddle)" is the brand-new remix of a track from Basecamp's recent LP by UKG veteran Mark Hill of Artful Dodger.
Cut Copy shared two new tunes from its upcoming Free Your Mind LP for Modular, the synth-heavy dancefloor sounds of "We are Explorers" and "Take Me Higher."
The same week Deetron's Music Over Matter was released, it also appeared as a full stream online.
LA DJ/producer Salva is the latest artist to sit down for a video interview with Australian outpost The Operatives.
Before it drops late next month, check out the strangely funky title track from Heatsick's upcoming Re-Engineering EP for PAN.
A couple of tunes surfaced from Bristol artist Hyetal this week, including unreleased tune "Cloak and Dagger" and Jim-E Stack's brand-new remix of "Jam The Network" from this year's Modern Worship LP for True Panther.
Bodhi's new 12" for Future Classic came out last week, but b-side cut "No More" wasn't shared as a stream until a few days ago.
And here's another house cut from the Future Classic label, Baio's bassline-centric "Welterweight."
Check out the video for Ghost Culture's "Mouth," an acid-touched tune from a forthcoming record for Erol Alkan's Phantasy label.
"Third Wilson" is a drum-heavy track from Will & Ink's forthcoming Wilson EP for its own eponymous label.
The prolific, Berlin-based Kid606 released a brand-new album out of nowhere, and posted a full stream of Happiness online, too.
It seems like Mumdance has been especially busy as of late, and this new mix he did for Rinse FM—consisting largely of his own collaborative tracks—is the latest piece to surface from the busy DJ/producer.
