Download: Charli XCX "Nuclear Seasons (Hackman Remix)"

First Listen

Following his latest 12" and before the release of his debut LP, As Above, So Below, Hackman turned in this excellent remix of UK synth-pop songstress Charli XCX (pictured above). As would be expected, the Leeds-based DJ/producer smooths things out a bit here, reigning in the buzzing electro-house vibes of the original in exchange for a blissfull, garage-indebted sound. Charli XCX's vocals lend themselves perfectly to the sultry, stepping beat, which chugs along underneath her plaintive croon—resulting in a version of the "Nuclear Seasons" that could very well be the high point of the tune's forthcoming single, which drops next Monday, November 21.

Download: Galapagos "Feel Things Inside"

Hailing from the Southwest city of Phoenix, AZ, Galapagos is an 18-year-old producer who has been garnering an increasing amount of attention in the past few months with a string of free tunes on his Bandcamp, as well as releases for net-labels such as Absent Fever. "Feel Things Inside" is an example of what the young up-and-comer is capable of, rearranging Jennifer Hudson's "No One Gonna Love You" into a skittering, arp-laden slice of catchy, melodious beat work. If the glitched-out R&B below is to your liking, we advise you head to the man's various web destinations to cop more free Galapagos tunes. (via Altered Zones

Download: Myrryrs "Blood Of A Slave (Obey City Remix)"

On Halloween, Nashville producer Myrryrs released his five-song Blood Of A Slave EP, which contains three originals from the anonymous tunesmith along with two remixes. On this rework of the title track, Brooklyn-based producer Obey City (pictured above) takes the tune's sparse beats and bass and fills in the spaces with dreamy synth arpeggios and extra cut-time percussion. The original song's low-pitched vocals and bass get the reverse treatment on the remix, having been pitched up and turned into backing vocals and a melody, respectively, before being placed over the top of a newly constructed bassline. The entire Blood Of A Slave EP can be streamed after the jump.  Read more »

Benjamin Damage and Doc Daneeka Ready Album for 50 Weapons

Earlier this year, Welsh duo Benjamin Damage and Doc Daneeka released "Creeper" b/w "Infamous," a collaborative single on Modeselektor's 50 Weapons label that found the pair moving beyond their UK funky-leaning past and exploring deeper, more techno-oriented sounds. Apparently, the Modeselektor guys were so happy with the tunes that they brought Damage and Daneeka to Berlin, holed them up in a studio for months, and had them create a full-length album, which will be released early next year. Download: Savile "Woman & Man"

As part of its ongoing video series in which up-and-coming artists are filmed while performing music in intimate settings, Lazy Day Lounge took a visit to the studio of Chicago-based producer Savile (a.k.a. Gianpaolo Dieli) to document the process of creating a house track. The video gives an up-close-and-personal account of Savile's technique, beginning with his search for samples as he collects various field recordings in his neighborhood and continuing through the arrangement and editing process. Savile's debut record, Being, comes out in January on the Amadeus imprint and will feature three originals and a remix of the title track by Youandewan. Check out the Lazy Day Lounge video after the jump.  Read more »

Review: Salva Yellobone EP

As the bass-music landscape becomes increasingly crowded, it's harder and harder to recognize all the talented artists (not to mention chastize all of the lackluster ones), but with each passing day, it becomes clear that Salva just might be one of the most underrated producers in the game. Whether it's a function of geography (he originally set up his Frite Nite imprint in San Francisco and now resides in hip-hop-heavy Los Angeles), his constantly developing sound, or perhaps just his quiet, unassuming persona, it seems like Salva simply isn't getting his proper due. Nevertheless, maybe that's about to change, as the Bubblin' producer is currently encamped in Madrid as part of the Red Bull Music Academy, and has just released the Yellobone EP, the follow-up to his acclaimed debut full-length, Complex Housing.
