"Ghosts" is the latest single from U.K. quartet Bastila, and it finds the boys digging into the psychedelic sounds of Madchester. Richard Norris explored some similarly trippy territory on his Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve collaboration with Erol Alkan, so it's not surprising to find him here (utilizing his new The Time and Space Machine moniker), extending the track into something resembling a long-lost Happy Mondays jam.

As a resident DJ at L.A.'s infamous Low End Theory, The Gaslamp Killer has built a reputation for rocking dancefloors with his bass-heavy selections and testing people's patience with his proclivity for jumping on the mic. Love him or hate him, he'll soon be dropping his debut EP My Troubled Mind on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label. "Anything Worse" is the first offering, a surprisingly restrained number that combines midtempo breaks with some ominous synths and glitchy skronk. My Troubled Mind will be released on August 4. Like a hyperactive four-year-old who's gotten ahold of his parents' Eurodance record collection, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs turn Crystal Fighters' blog-friendly dance-rock into a hi-speed trek through years of Nintendo and cheesy power-synths.
Indie-rockers WHY? have remixed Serengeti & Polyphonic's leftfield original into a more lush, swinging number. With a more ample beat, grooving bassline and dreamy acoustic elements, a new sort of hip-hop sound emerges, and it is sweet.
NYC electro-disco duo Holy Ghost! has just gotten the remix treatment from Parisian electro-house phenom DJ Mehdi, who seriously houses up the original's nu-disco sound with more throbbing bass, heavier kicks, and some lovely synth samplings. Perfect for a night out on the town, this one.
Originally intended as the flip-side to Ikonika's Hyperdub debut, Please, this is one hell of a wonky dubstep tune. Bloopy synth arpeggiations, double-time rhythmic structure, and a distanced mix make for a perfect dubstep track; bizarre structural similarities to Glassjaw's "Siberian Kiss" also add to the intrigue. Although well-known to her fans, "Phonelines VIP" has never before been available for purchase; instead, Ikonika has decided to offer up the track for free download exclusively through XLR8R.
The Juan Maclean gives Codebreaker's summer hit the remix treatment, transforming an Azoto-like Italo-disco number into a Chicago house track, replete with lovely piano flourishes and stretches of acid squelch. Though a bit darker than the original, the remix maintains a bouncing, clubby vibe that might make Daft Punk blush.
