Download: Seb Wildblood "Hide the Pictures"

First Listen

This dusty slice of house arrives courtesy of Seb Wildblood, a London producer and co-founder of the city's Church label. A bonus cut to Wildblood's upcoming Come Into My House EP (out August 11 via Church), "Hide the Pictures" places a simple guitar melody atop thick filtered chords and muffled party chatter. Spanning just over five minutes, "Hide the Pictures" is a subdued, bluesy affair, one which spends most of its run focusing on a murky undercurrent, allowing only a languid vocal chorus to sit above the stoney production.

Download: Swoon "Do You Love"

First Listen
Label: Cut

Helmed by Alex Cowles (a.k.a. DFRNT), the Cut label/subscription service will soon add a new EP to its catalog from London newcomer Swoon. Serving as the lead cut to the forthcoming Beyond Human EP, "Do You Love" is a detail-oriented production that places subtle melodic phrases beneath a rich, hazy atmosphere and clever layers of evolving percussion. Swoon's Beyond Human EP will see its official release on July 28; in the meantime the rest of the upcoming effort can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Tapes "Find Y.O.U."

First Listen

Stateside newcomer Tapes is set to drop his Finding LP next month. Serving as out first preview, the virtually un-Googleable artist has passed along "Find Y.O.U.," a melody-rich beat which will appear on the forthcoming effort. Built around a set of skittering drums, ""Find Y.O.U." breezes through its musical movements, landing on sparkling keys, delicate melodies, and occasionally burying Craig David's "Feel Me In" beneath the glossy, skittering production. Tapes' Finding album will see a release on August 15 as a free-to-download collection.

Download: Synthek & Audiolouis "Broken Pad"

Label: Natch

Earlier this month, Natch label founders Synthek and Audiolouis issued their debut full-length together, Unwise. Featured here, Broken Pad" is one of 12 dense techno expeditions to appear on the record. Beginning with a pulsing pattern of kick drums, the track gradually builds into a thick sonic atmosphere—glacial pads meet sci-fi textures, which are pushed to the background by sheets of machine-made hiss and growing layers of dubbed percussion rattles. The Berlin pair's Unwise LP is out now, with an extensive remix series set to appear down the line featuring reworks from Sleeparchive, Zadig, Neel, Tadeo, Ness and Polar Inertia.

Download: Lokiboi "Midnight Tempo"

First Listen

London-via-Moscow beatmaker Lokiboi has appeared in XLR8R's Downloads section quite a bit over the past few years, but he's never quite sounded like he does on "Midnight Tempo." Here, Lokiboi hovers just above 100 bpm, lacing a shuffling four-on-the-floor beat with a mellow procession of chopped chords and murmured vocals—presumably the producer's own. Sweetening the package, "Midnight Tempo" comes with a touch of vintage sensibilities, as Lokiboi utilizes alternating patterns of bright organ melodies and airy MIDI horns to top off the soulful house outing.

Download: Give In "Saw Palmetto"

Label: RIS Labs

After initially launching from San Francisco in 2010, the Rock It Science Laboratories imprint (or RIS Labs, for short) has reemerged as a Los Angeles-based label/collective, with Give In's Slow Moves EP serving at the outpost's latest effort. The alias of LA producer/sound engineer George Cochrane, the Give In project concerns itself with detailed melodic house, of which "Saw Palmetto" is a fine example. Serving as one of two original cuts which appear on Slow Moves, the track relies on intricate percussion to initially build its momentum before Cochrane adds layers of crystalline chords, tweaked synth lines, and jazzy vocal chops to the procession. Out now, Give In's entire Slow Moves EP can be streamed via the player provided after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Marco Bernardi "Spacejam (Mr. Ho Pigs in Space Remix)"

Label: Klasse

Serving as the closing track to Marco Bernardi's upcoming Spacejam EP and embellished with a "Pigs in Space Remix" tag, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Austrian producer's Mr. Ho's rework of "Spacejam" has plenty of galactic soundscapes on display. Underneath the remix's long, winding pads and delay-washed synth melodies, Mr. Ho places four-on-the-floor beat and an upswung snare, which give the track a slightly rushed momentum, as if he can't wait to take the dancefloor on a voyage well beyond the stars. This remix and the rest of Marco Bernardi's four-track Spacejam EP are out now in vinyl form, and will be available digitally on July 28.
