If Faws‘ “Whitney” wasn’t so cool (speaking in terms of temperature, not hipness, though it could also be that), it might rightly be called a slow-burner. However, the track sounds more aquatic than firey, building into its flow of pulsing melodies and leaky faucet drip-drops from the wash of ambient field recordings and hints of percussion at the beginning. “Whitney” is the first peek into the Dublin-based producer’s upcoming Blue Notes EP, the details of which are skim—much like the details of the tune itself. Judging from the title of the track, it seems that Faws uses a Whitney Houston vocal sample, coincidentally adding a bit of posthumous spookiness to his beats.
