Late last month, we divulged the deatils of a new compilation from Portland house collective/label/blog Ecstasy, which came out just yesterday. To celebrate the release, appropriately titled Ecstasy (artwork above), the imprint is giving away yet another free track from the comp, this one by a mainstay of the crew, Leech. The song is called “Edgewise,” and sounds as if a straightforward disco-house tune went through a paper shredder before producer Brian Foote taped it all back together while blindfolded. There’s no easy four-on-the-floor to keep you grounded on this one, and instead the tune employs a complex array of kicks, claps, and hi-hats that patter about behind swirling synth production.
