On occasion, we here at XLR8R HQ just need to let loose a bit, and oftentimes that hankering is expressed through music, like, say, banging, tropical-tinged house music. With that in mind, we have this remix from London’s Shy One (a.k.a. Mali Larrington-Nelson, pictured above), who adds a bit more structure to French Fries‘ innocently named collaborative tune with fellow Parisian Bambounou, “Hugz.” The 21-year-old producer swoops in and removes the last two letters from the frequently used word “fuck,” effectively softening the vocal sample and making the tune radio safe. However, her remix still retains the original’s salacious intentions both on and off the dancefloor, as the body-moving production is equally hedonistic. On a related note, be on the lookout for Shy One’s sophomore effort, an LP entitled Bedknobs and Boomkicks, which is dropping soon via Hyperdub and Rinse affilate Scratcha DVA‘s label, aptly named DVA Music.
