We’ve always kept a close eye on the constantly evolving and changing sound of Berlin resident Kid606 (a.k.a. Miguel De Pedro). In recent months, he’s been hinting at a laid-back and glitch-influenced direction, like “Gimme Summer,” the first leak from his upcoming Lost In The Game album that appeared back in August. This week, the prolific sound explorer will release his latest LP via his own label, Tigerbeat6, and he’s sent over one of the tunes from the record to whet our palettes. “New Boss Same as Old Boss” remains in the shoegaze-inspired vein of his recent projects, and builds into a dozy sway of low end and rhythmic patter from the initial onslaught of blurred, fuzzed-out synths.
