Jimmy Edgar "Sex Drive (Jon Convex Dub Remix)"
Detroit-bred and Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist Jimmy Edgar has kept himself pretty busy lately. Not only is he in the middle of a US tour, but he also has an EP out on November 1 with Machinedrum under the moniker Jets. To top it all off, the producer is set to unleash "Sex Drive," a single from his latest album Majenta, via Scuba's Hotflush label. That 12" features a remix by John Talabot and a couple from Jon Convex, one of which we're premiering today. Convex's dub version of "Sex Drive" repackages the original's pointed melody with a more jacking groove and a screwed-down twist on the suggestive female vocal sample—replacing Edgar's heavy retro influences with an extra dash of techno. Keep an eye out for the rest of the Sex Drive EP when it drops next week.
