Download: Medlar "The Camberwell Beauty"

With the 2014 edition of the annual Amsterdam Dance Event festival in full swing this weekend, "music discovery service" 22tracks and file transfer service WeTransfer have decided to mark the occasion by putting together Transfer Tracks Vol. 1, a—you guessed it—22-track compilation. Nestled between productions from the likes of Jacob Korn, Sisterhood, and Julien Mier, among others, is Medlar's "The Camberwell Beauty" (one of a number of tunes exclusive to the collection). A warm, sample-based excursion, "The Camberwell Beauty" piles heavenly harp runs and jazzy Rhodes chords atop an array of lively percussion loops and shuffled snares. Medlar's entrancing contribution to Transfer Tracks Vol. 1 can be grabbed below, while the full compilation can be downloaded for free here

Download: Lixo "Makes Me"

First Listen

London resident Alexander Hislop certainly keeps himself busy—the man oversees the GETME! label, helms a regular show on NTS Radio, and produces tracks under the name Lixo. His latest tune, "Makes Me," comes ahead of a Lixo EP which is currently in the works and likely to land sometime next year. A bulbous production, "Makes Me" is built atop a procession of choppy rhythms, the track's thick snares, precisely tuned kicks, and crisp bits of drum-machine percussion serving as the bed to an array of manipulated vocal chops and gritty chord stabs.

Download: Show-B "Arps to Heaven (Dub)"

First Listen

Next week, Munich-based producer Mathias Schober (a.k.a. Show-B) will debut on Ian Pooley's Pooledmusic imprint with the three-track Arps EP, and ahead of its release, Schober has turned in a dub of the record's title track. In its stripped-down version, "Arps to Heaven" is a lean dancefloor tool, one which peels back the original tune's arpeggiated layers and focuses in on the track's bottom-heavy roll and precise rhythmic details. Schober's latest outing as Show-B will officially land in vinyl form on October 20 and in digital form on November 3; in the meantime, the forthcoming Arps EP can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Clip! "You Don't Have To"

Label: Discomaths

Earlier this week, fledgling Spanish label Discomaths released its second vinyl effort, the four-track Love Harder EP from rising Barcelona producer Clip! (whose two-track outing for hometown label Classicworks was featured on the site back in June). On Love Harder, Clip! is said to shed some of his harder techno tendencies in order to reveal his "more emotional side," which—in terms of the EP's closing cut, "You Don't Have To"—finds him crafting a lovely piece of pop-flecked house. Imbued with just the slightest skip, "You Don't Have To" focuses on a series of glassy chords and tastefully chopped R&B vocals; spread across five minutes, Clip! uses his simple array of elements to great effect. Out now, the rest of the Love Harder EP can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Sahy Uhns "Tolerance Training (Part Two)"

First Listen
Label: Proximal

Sahy Uhns is a Los Angeles-based artist who also co-runs the Proximal label, which has released records from the likes of Benedek, Wake, and Lawrence Grey in recent years. Next on the label, Sahy Uhns (real name Carl Burgin) will issue his own Courtship Dances LP, a 10-track effort split into three parts—a Prologue, Chapter One, and Chapter Two. "Tolerance Training (Part Two)" stems from the record's Prologue and spends much of its five-minute run coyly shifting shapes from a cavernous dance track, to a more energetic house affair led by active (and even a touch funky) synth sequences and lined with an array of minute rhythmic details. An impressive feat of dancefloor evolution, "Tolerance Training (Part Two)" can be downloaded below while the artwork and full tracklist for Sahy Uhns' forthcoming Courtship Dances LP (out November 4 via Proximal) can be found after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Downliners Sekt "Eiger Dreams (The Wanderer Reconstruction)"

Label: InFiné

From the looks of it, The Wanderer is a young producer in the early stages of building his catalog up. To that effect, his latest effort is a remix of Barcelona duo Downliners Sekt's "Eiger Dreams," which appears alongside other reworks from patten, Blondes, Chevel and others on a new remix EP for the InFiné label (for the record, we posted Blondes' contribution last month). Appearing in its original form on Downliners Sekt's Silent Ascent LP, "Eiger Dreams" is a particularly dense and winding affair—two traits which The Wanderer only further develops on his remix, adding even more layers of sonic abstraction and warm-blooded grit to the track's ominously disjointed run.

Download: Emufucka "Reflection"

First Listen
Label: Fremdtunes

If Tokyo-based producer Emufucka is one thing, it's unpredictable. The RBMA graduate seems capable of forging beats in any number of shapes and sizes, whether its boisterous dancefloor workouts, futuristic boom-bap, more stoney hip-hop fare, or—in the case of "Reflection"—somewhere between all of that. Pulled from Emufucka's forthcoming Island EP for Fremdtunes, the track features its share of skittering drums, on top of which appear a smattering of harp-like melodic runs, twisted vocal samples, and a any number of liquified synth chords. The result is pleasantly hard to classify, as we imagine much of Emufucka's Island EP will prove to be when it drops on October 20. For those interested in hearing where else the adventurous producer plans to head on his forthcoming release, Emufucka's latest EP can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »
