On this uplifting cut from the pair’s new EP, the recent Body High signees of Newbody pay homage to the their cited Detroit-techno influences. “Sunny Dayz (Brighter Dub)” is primed for the dancefloor, as Newbody builds its steady groove around a warm piano loop and ever-changing drumwork. But the most interesting aspect of the tune might be the way it tastefully unfolds, particularly when a repeating vocal sample is paired with its harmonic counterpart to make a kind of phonetic collage that sounds almost like scatting.
