Download: BXP "00"

Random Numbers is a freshly launched Italian label and collective that has compiled a five-track digital EP to introduce its stable of artists. Naturally entitled Random Numbers 1, the inaugural compilation includes this lush production from Carlo Mameli, a Bolognina-based producer who operates under the name BXP. Mameli's "00" somewhat harkens back to the sound of classic Border Community releases, fitting sharp bits of percussion between a dense series of billowing synth tones, with plenty of melodic sequences to follow throughout the track's five-plus-minute run. BXP's contribution to Random Numbers' introductory offering can be download below, while the rest of the comp can be heard (and downloaded for free) via the label's SoundCloud

Download: Tomás Urquieta "Smoke Signal (Sines Remix)"

First Listen
Label: Diamante

On his upcoming Ignea EP, Chilean producer Tomás Urquieta crafts club music indebted to the sounds of labels like Night Slugs and Fade to Mind, fitting industrial hits and space-age FX between booming rhythms. On his remix of Urquieta's "Smoke Signal," Texan producer Sines elects to lace the track with an electro-like rhythm, placing crisp claps and racing hats between the tune's thudding kick drums and extra layers of chopped chords. Sines' remix can be grabbed for free below while, ahead of its release on October 10 via Chile's Diamante imprint, Urquieta's Ignea EP can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Nunca Duerma "He Is Gone"

First Listen

Nunca Duerma is a burgeoning beatmaker who hails from Chicago and is set to make the trip out west for his debut at Los Angeles' renowned Low End Theory party later this month. In anticipation, the producer has sent over "He Is Gone," a choppy beat that makes use of fast-looped samples while its rhythms nod to the juke and footwork tradition of his hometown. Still, "He Is Gone" does see Duerma (who released his Shapeshifter LP via Eliot Lipp's Old Tacoma imprint earlier this year) imparting plenty of his own personality onto the track, with blurry flashes of glitched electronics and a melancholic piano melody further building upon the tune's jittery rhythmic base.

Download: Will Lister "Mecca"

First Listen

Will Lister is a young UK producer with a handful of "edits" and mixes to be heard on his SoundCloud. Featured here, "Mecca" serves as the budding beatmaker's newest original effort, and it's one that signals that the young talent is progressing in an interesting direction. For someone who is likely still too young to easily get into clubs (Lister's SoundCloud profile claims he is 17), the dancefloor certainly does not sound like unfamiliar territory to him, as "Mecca" eventually locks into a low-swung shuffle, its swinging groove left with plenty of room to breathe while tasteful bits of synth melody and extra percussion pile on top of it.

Download: Borealis "Love"

Label: Tipping Hand

Los Angeles label Tipping Hand has put together a new label compilation, Volume 1: Memory Waves, in order to highlight the diverse range of electronic producers it keeps in its company. Pulled from the 10-track effort is "Love," a synth-soaked outing from Canadian producer Jesse Somfay, who here operates under his Borealis alias (a handle under which he released the Kallionyma EP via Tipping Hand earlier this year). With "Love," Somfay gradually expands and contracts—and occasionally modulates—a bouncing synth motif, allowing it to slowly unravel atop a series of dark, slow-brewing rhythms. The resulting track can be downloaded below or grabbed as part of the full Volume 1: Memory Waves collection, which is currently free to download via the Tipping Hand label's Bandcamp page

Download: Pablo Sanchez "Broken Blues"

First Listen
Label: Seven Villas

Set to arrive next on the freshly launched Seven Villas label is Proximity, a five-track EP from Barcelona-based producer Pablo Sanchez. Leading the charge is "Broken Blues," a patient and methodical expedition into the more sunburnt ends of house. Spanning over six minutes, the track lurches forward, its interlocked layers of shakers, hats, rolling snares, and light percussion pushing the track's momentum ahead as rich synth patterns gradually fill out the proceedings. Sanchez's Proximity EP is set to arrive on October 6; in the meantime, "Borken Bells" can be downloaded below while a video for the record's title track can be viewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Lockah "Unrealable"

Label: Donky Pitch

Though known more on this side of the pond for its label efforts, Donky Pitch actually began as a Brighton club night in the summer of 2009. Now, the Donky Pitch crew is marking its five years of existence with, well, Five, a free compilation gathering some of the label's past highlights in addition to a number of unreleased tracks including the Lockah production featured here. On "Unrealable," the former Bubblin' Up artist crafts a beat heavily steeped in retro vibes, its neon-striped chords and active layers of drum-machine percussion making this one sound like a futuristic—and even a bit sinister—outtake from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack (not that we're complaining at all about that fact). In addition to housing Lockah's "Unrealable" effort, Donky Pitch's new comp also counts tracks from The Range, Slugabed, Ghost Mutt, ARP 101, Starfoxxx, and Tokyo Hands to its name; all of which can be grabbed as a name-your-price download here. In addition, the label will be celebrating its five years with a "birthday" party in London this Saturday, the details of which can be found here
