Download: Cosmo Lopez "Spirals (My Panda Shall Fly Refix)"

First Listen
Label: Loungin

After appearing as a remixer in our Downloads section last week, Cosmo Lopez finds himself on the opposite side of the arrangement here with prolific London producer My Panda Shall Fly's (pictured above) refix of "Spirals," the title track for Lopez's upcoming EP for the Loungin' label. A member of the Paraguayan trio LPZ, Spirals will serve as Lopez's debut solo release when it lands on November 17, offering a electro-indebted original track alongside remixes from Benjamin Brunn, LPZ members P Lopez & Lion, and My Panda Shall Fly, whose choppy take on "Spirals" adds new low-end and a more energetic rhythmic base to Lopez's production.

Download: Chris & Antanas "Hold It Down"

First Listen

Producers Chris Woodward and Antanas Antanelis are set to combine their talents for the first time as Chris & Antanas on the upcoming Afrikaan Donce EP for the UK-based NDV label. Ahead of the record's release the pair has sent along bonus cut "Hold It Down" as a preview of sorts. Infused with smoky, basement vibes, the track is a low-swung piece of house, heavy on soul and rich with percussion. Set to appear on December 1, Chris & Antanas' Afrikaan Donce EP will present two original efforts from the pair alongside remixes from Mr. G and Manchester producer Oli Furness; in the meantime, the upcoming record can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Chancha Via Circuito "Prima (Helado Negro Remix)"

First Listen

Though the Amansara LP counts as Chancha Via Circuito's (pictured above) latest full-length effort, his "Prima" track actually stems from the Argentinian producer's 2010 LP for ZZK, Rio Arriba. While its unclear if this remix from Brooklyn artist Helado Negro has simply been sitting in the vaults for four years or is the result of a more recent revisiting of Chancha Via Circuito's past album, the rework is certainly worth a listen. Where the original version of "Prima" laces its digital cumbia core with dubbed-out stabs, Helado Negro's version warps the track into a more wobbly affair, one filled with extra doses of manipulated percussion and a range of other sonic eccentricities. Helado Negro's previously unreleased remix can be grabbed below, while Chancha Via Circuito's recent In the Studio feature can be read here.

First Listen
Label: Polytone

Frankfurt's Polytone label will next week add the Gravity EP from Orion to its catalog, a four-track record which will offer two original efforts from the producer alongside remixes from Johannes Volk and BLD, whose rework is featured here. Hailing from Barcelona, BLD reshapes Orion's celestial techno production into a more dark and driving affair, one which comes infused with tough, chugging rhythms and lined by ever-present filter tweaks. Out in vinyl from on November 17 (with a digital release to follow one week after), the rest of Orion's upcoming Gravity EP can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Brackles "Palos Y Piedras"

First Listen
Label: Swing Ting

Manchester-based DJ/production crew and club night Swing Ting will inaugurate a new label endeavor next week with the three-track Skank EP, overseen by time-tested UK DJ/producer Brackles. While the record's neon-striped title track features the talents of MC Fox, the EP's bonus cut offered here finds Brackles operating solo. As its title implies, "Palos Y Piedras" sees the producer toying with some Latin flavors, which he folds into a vibrant club framework propelled by sharply processed kicks and snares and laced with a slinking bassline, intertwining flute melodies, and many layers of hand percussion. Officially out on November 17, Brackles' forthcoming Skank EP can be previewed after the jump. Furthermore, Swing Ting will be throwing a launch event in Manchester on Saturday to help inaugurate its new imprint; more info can be found here.  Read more »

Download: kuxxan SUUM & MC Doodoo "The Drip (Sclist Remix)"

First Listen

New York's South Fork Sound label is set to issue its first vinyl release next week in the form of the The Drip/ Stay Reminded 7" from North Carolina-based producer kuxxan SUUM (and featuring the talents of one MC Doodoo). Serving as a digital bonus to the upcoming effort will be this remix from Leeds beatmaker Sclist, who reshapes the record's lead track into a largely vocal-less affair, one which retains the dub-wise sonics of the original "The Drip" while infusing it with extra doses of sub-bass and a more brooding atmosphere. Officially out on November 17, the rest of South Fork Sound's upcoming vinyl release can be previewed after the jump.  Read more »

Download: Mongo Skato "Turismoc"

First Listen
Label: 1080p

The fast-paced 1080p label seems intent on continuing its run of plucking fertile talent from places no one else thought to look with the debut release from Mongo Skato, I Don't Give It, just on the horizon. A New Zealand-based producer, Skato's forthcoming eight-track debut is said to deliver a range of "euphoric" and "deranged" hybrid technoid productions influenced by "recently discovered dirt-cheap '90s house and techno records." Our first glimpse into how Skato's various aims and inspirations may all converge on I Don't Give It comes in the form of "Turismoc," a track which steadily bounces with lo-fi rhythms that serve as the structural base for an array of fuzzy chords and playful melodies whose tones land somewhere between cheap digital synths and decades-old video-game music. Finished off with just a touch of funk, "Turismoc" seems to indicate that Mongo Skato's debut outing will sit nicely amongst the rest of the 1080p catalog when it officially joins the ranks on December 2.
