Preparing to drop his first release for Throne of Blood later this month, New York-based producer/DJ Curses (a.k.a. Luca Venezia) has sent over “String Static,” an ominous cut off his forthcoming record. Unsettling pangs and high-pitched synth stabs permeate the production, as low-rumbling sounds help forge the track’s foreboding textures. Across its entire run, “String Static” weaves deep percussion in and out of focus, eventually closing out the track with the same persistent drum thrashes that it had ruthlessly opened up with. Curses’ full Call the Doctor EP is set to drop on May 26.
