Jay Haze Preps Single with Ricardo Villalobos

Dance music producer Jay Haze, who XLR8R chatted with earlier this month, has announced a new single due out on his TuningSpork imprint. "Ass to Mouth" is as dirty as it sounds, with choppy synth lines, thick beats, and Jay breathing seductively in the background. Pon Di Wire: “Irie” Dispute, Slang of the Year Award, Manley Inducted

Several reggae news outlets have reported that producer Cordell 'Skatta' Burrell was involved in a very serious car accident. Known for creating such riddims as Coolie Dance, Martial Arts, Chiney Gal, Bad Co., Burrell was driving his blue Subaru WRX when it went out of control and hit another vehicle parked near a taxi stand. Burrell is alleged to be alright, with injuries unknown at this time.

Little Brother, Hieroglyphics, Kool Keith to Play Third Annual Paid Dues Festival

Murs and lifestyle company Guerilla Union have again joined forces to bring California residents the third annual Paid Dues Hip-Hop Festival, which showcases indie hip-hop artists from around the country in a single-day event. In the words of Guerilla Union's Chang Weisberg, it's "a true platform for independent hip-hop artists and their communities."

Bass Reaction! Dubstep News, Forum Awards and New Releases Galore

The annual Dubstepforum Awards were held January 17 at London’s Herbal nightclub. Forum members voted online and nominees who received more than 50 votes appeared in the final results tally. Brixton’s Digital Mystikz/DMZ crew fared well, while DM producer Mala took both the top producer award (Burial and Benga were voted second and third) and Best 12”, for “Lean Forward” (tying Uncle Sam’s “Round The World Girls - Tes La Rok Remix”). Cut Copy Readies In Ghost Colours and Lead Single

Cut Copy is finally releasing a follow-up to 2004's Bright Like Neon Love. The forthcoming In Ghost Colours finds the Melbourne, Australia-based trio as heavily influenced by the sounds of the '80s as ever, as well as working under the watchful eye of Tim Goldsworthy, who produced the album. Its lead single, "Lights & Music," is so heavy on the pounding synths and epic breakdowns it's almost possible see the neon lights flashing around a dancefloor upon hearing the track.

Dizzee Rascal's Maths+English Revamped

Dizzee Rascal has teamed up the folks at Definitive Jux to release a bigger, better version of his 2007 album Maths+English. Two new studio tracks and a remix of "Where Da G's," done by none other than Def Jux label boss El-P, will be packaged as bonus material, and U.S. fans–who previously could only get the album in digital format–will also have the option of purchasing this revamped version in CD or digital format. Pick all of this up at your local record store on April 29.
