Kitsuné Preps BoomBox Mix

Kitsuné is probably best known for its in-demand Kitsuné Maison compilations, which are essentially a who’s-who in the world of rising electro-pop artists. But its latest release, BoomBox, sees the Paris-based label eschewing the likes of Hadouken!, Punks Jump Up, and The Gossip, and instead favoring the classic French electro sound, à la Daft Punk. Mixed by Jerry Bouthier (a resident of Edinburgh club night BoomBox), the release features Headman, Rex the Dog, and Oliver Koletzki, and hints more at restless U.K. nights than it does at sleek Parisian hipness. Don’t worry, BoomBox isn’t completely devoid of modern electro characters. Bouthier also pulls in Van She Tech (remixing Feist’s “1, 2, 3, 4”), Riot In Belgium, Simian Mobile Disco, and Digitalism, for full party measure.

BoomBox will be available at Paris style mecca Colette during Fashion Week, and October 29 for those in America. Regardless of whether or not you’ve downloaded a majority of the tracks on any one of the millions of blogs offering them, this nearly flawless mix of choppy, vocal-driven remixes and edits is a standout release for a label on top of its game.

Kitsuné BoomBox is out October 29, 2007 on Kitsuné.
