Pon Di Wire: Sizzla Busted For Pot, Big Year For Buju, Feb is Reggae Month

Don’t think police in Jamaica are more lenient on ganja than other countries. Celebrities have been finding this out the hard way. Reggae singjay Miguel Collins, a.k.a Sizzla, was stopped in Kingston by police, who arrested the performer for marijuana possession. He was in court January 4, where he was sentenced to pay a fine of $100 or serve 10 days behind bars after pleading guilty to possession. Read more »

Ghislain Poirier Preps Ninja Tune Debut, Megamix Podcast

Ghislain Poirier has announced the release of his Ninja Tune debut, No Ground Under–and some extra-special promotion to go along with it.
The Montreal-based DJ and producer has prepped a podcast called Bastard Bass, which features segments from the new album as well as a couple of his remixes. The 40-minute mix is about as bass-heavy as Poirier gets, and shows off the wide palette of musical styles (grime, dancehall, ragga, to name a few) he is capable of.

Clinic Readies Fifth Album, Tour

Prepare to don your surgical masks and enthusiasm for strange indie rock. Clinic is back, with a fifth full-length entitled Do It! that's said to be a combination of psych-rock, tango, John Denver-esque acoustics, and dancefloor numbers. Hardly a surprising mix, considering the band once claimed on its website to sound like no other band out there, and most would agree with that statement.
