Black Lips to Embark on Gigantic Tour

You'd think only a certain type of person could handle a Black Lips show, but from the number of dates listed thus far for the Atlanta-based band's upcoming U.S. tour, there is a vast body of people who find the band's relentless energy and unparalleled stage antics (which, to date, include stage diving, throwing beer at one another, nudity, and fireworks) inspiring.

Pon Di Wire: Beenie Man in Court, Reggae Grammys, Recommended Reggae Podcasts

The artist known as The Doctor and Ras Moses, and who takes the stage as Beenie Man (real name: Moses Davis), has had his share of personal ups and downs recently. But salvaging his career is something he has become a pro at, and this week, amid DNA paternity tests to verify if he is the father of child Marco Dean, Beenie Man announced a gift to children–education scholarships. Kidz in the Hall Strike Deal with Duck Down Records

Previously signed to Rawkus, who released their debut album School Was My Hustle, the Chicago-meets-New Jersey hip-hop duo Kidz in the Hall (or Naledge and Double-O, if you prefer their solo names) have jumped over to Duck Down Records for their sophomore full-length, The In Crowd. In a press release, the two talked elevation, spreading of wings, and fresh air, so it sounds as though the switch to Duck Down was a much-needed one.

Panther Gets New Drummer, Preps New Album for Kill Rock Stars

You may or may not be aware that Portland-based freak-out act Panther is comprised of more than the inimitable Charlie Salas-Humara and his spastic dance moves. Though a recent press release states that "even when [Panther] was Charlie's solo effort, he was never really alone... there was a sense that Panther was being overtaken by something," fans will be introduced to a more literal version of multiple band members with 14kt God. Mahjongg Return with K Records

Upon its release three years ago, Mahjongg's Raydoncong EP garnered a slew of live shows for the band, as well as captivated K Records founder Calvin Johnson, who signed the group to his now legendary label. We've heard little from the Chicago-based art-punk outfit since, but rumor has it a new full-length is on the way. Slated for release February 12, Kontpab will contain more of the post-industrial, afro-beat, art-pop that has various media outlets in full-on jock mode.
