Hercules and Love Affair Plot Tour

What's fall without a few shades of disco for the sonic palate? Last time we caught Hercules and Love Affair live, the eight-piece band, led by Andy Butler, turned the venue into a room of dance mayhem that DFA head honcho James Murphy would most surely have approved of. With its self-titled debut tearing up charts, the band and its many keyboards are set to hit the road again this fall. Pon Di Wire: Ninjaman, Cocoa Tea

Famed 1970s roots music producer Bertram Brown, whose Freedom Sounds label issued some of the era’s most important roots music, died Monday, September 8, at the age of 58. Brown produced hits by Prince Alla, Earl Zero, Rod Taylor, Philip Frazer, Frankie Paul, and Pompidoo, and worked with Earl "Chinna" Smith’s Soul Syndicate session band, as well as with King Tubby. Several of Brown’s productions were reissued on the U.K.-based Blood & Fire label.

Jamie Lidell, The Walkmen Free the Radio

Free Yr Radio is ready to wrap 2008. The campaign, which has already seen events hosted by Dave P, The Secret Machines, Dan Deacon, and Tokyo Police Club this year, will end its 2008 season with three shows hosting the likes of Jamie Lidell, The Walkmen, and King Kahn.

Cut Copy Plots European Tour

The Cut Copy boys are currently engaging in friendly road rivalry with The Presets, but the Melbourne, Australia-based trio won't be taking much R&R time once the tour wraps. The boys will perform several European dates in November, including one in Paris with Hot Chip and fellow dance-rockers Late of the Pier. Prior to the European shows, Cut Copy will hit Bogota, Colombia.
