Xiu Xiu to Play “Bad” Art Exhibition

Xiu Xiu is laying low for the fall, it seems, but Jamie Stewart and Co. will make one appearance, across the country from their Oakland homebase, in New York. The band is scheduled for a show at New York magazine's Bad Art Auction on November 19.

Last year's event featured vegan Bat Mitzvah food, and the invitation to dress in drag and purchase what was vaguely dubbed as "bad art." This year, expect BBQ, Indie Rock karaoke, more bad art, and a full set by Xiu Xiu.

Tickets are a mere $25, with all proceeds from art purchases going towards New York Cares, an organization that provides volunteer support to non-profit organizations around the city. Check the party's site for full details.

While BBQ and karaoke are awesome, those were actually features of other events in the New York x New York series. The BBQ was with Islands in the summer, and Indie Rock Karaoke is coming up in December! The Bad Art Auction is Xiu Xiu performing and Judah F auctioning off the art -- plenty of fun even without BBQ and sing-a-longs.
