Kompakt's newest podcast just went up, and it comes to us from President Bongo of Icelandic electronic trio GusGus. The mix features a lovely mesh of different sounds, ranging from the Detroit thump of Theo Parrish to the more cerebral tones of Ada. Not surprisingly, the sonic texture of the podcast shares some similarities with the latest GusGus album, 24/7. More interesting sounds from this zany figure! Salem has returned, bringing more of their dark electronic washes with a new two-song single on Audraglint. XLR8R gave readers the a-side of the new single, "Frost", earlier this week, but today we bring you the amazing video for the b-side, titled "Legend." Featuring night-vision shots and a fetishization of fighter jets that teeters toward Top Gun, there is something eminently weird and haunting about the audio-visual pairing. Last year, XLR8R commissioned filmmaker Ryan Junell to put together a short film entitled The Bus, in which he joined a DIY community touring the East Coast in a reclaimed, veggie-oil-powered city bus that's been turned into a venue for mind-melting punk and metal shows. The film debuted in February, but now we're happy to host The Bus here on XLR8R.com.
