Kraddy Departs from The Glitch Mob

Four-man laptop powerhouse The Glitch Mob has been performing recent shows with only three members onstage, and that's a setup that, according to the group, is likely to stick, as member Matthew "Kraddy" Kratz has announced his departure. A recent posting on the group's site had this to say:

"Due to creative differences, we have decided, as a group, to part ways. We believe that this will be a positive change for everyone involved and we continue to support Kraddy as both a friend and a musician."

Kratz confirmed the above information, simply saying, "The Glitch Mob and I decided it would be best to part ways," and also added, "I will continue performing and producing as Kraddy and I will have some new tunes for you soon."

Kraddy's "Android Porn/Steppin Razor" single was actually pretty good. Posers, pricks, and douchebags alike, I care not how they act around others if they can turn out songs like that.

I dare you to listen to any glitchmob track and not end up in a seriously funked out groove. They get you moving. Isn't that music?

soul-less music. pre-programmed acted out live performances pretending to be busy tapping on midi controllers most of the time, while looking fly and ego-tripping on themselves...at least new kids on the block had dance moves in their show.
individually they are talented musically but when they come together as the mob it's a joke. (my opinion)

Wow people...

Don't comment on their performances if you have no idea what they actually are doing on-stage. Personally knowing some of these guys, they are super talented and even if it looks like they aren't doing anything but "tapping on midi controllers" live, then you obviously don't know enough to judge. Way to shit talk a talented and respectful group of musicians. Let's see any of you loud mouth shit talkers produce beats like theirs.

Peace and love for The Glitch Mob.

I don't know the Glitch Mob or what they get out of performing but I love the music. It is bangin', head noddin', hand wavin, joint poppin deliciousness. Give a listen and judge for yourself. I could give a shit what "pose" they choose. Your "idenitity" is a constructed too and if you don't know that you are deluding yourself. We are all posers fuckers. Some are just better looking posers than you. get over it.

everyone talking shit needs to chill out. im assuming everyone thrashing their live performance is themselves a BADASS dj and can do way better than them, because thats the vibe your giving off. if thats the case, then shut up and show them how to do it. otherwise shut your trap and go make something half as creative or engaging as what these fine men produce.

Good for Kraddy. All these guys are talented producers, but a little success has gone to their heads & made them lazy. I refuse to see them as a collective any more.

Seems like they all hve the same things to say too. Just retweeting one after another what the other says. Isn't that why people tweet? To be more personable with the audience? BOOOOORRRRRRRRING. Just like their sets.

It seems to me that perhaps the Glitch Mob underestimates their audience? That perhaps they think we're sway by the usual promotional schtick (photo-ops, matching suits, bad boy poses)? That we will jump up and down on the dance floor upon hearing the same exact track we heard years ago on Podcasts or on the May Ann Hobb show? Take EPROM, for instance. He spins the same tracks live from one of his downloadable mixes but he adds layers upon layers to them that you wouldn't otherwise hear. Lazer Sword is another great example where even the beat is up for grabs. Flying Lotus too.

And just adding simple layers of blips doesn't count. I was incredibly disappointed at their last set at Mezzanine precisely for that reason. It was their usual tracks with the usual beeps. Part of the excitement of hearing them, once upon a time, was the newness of their sound. But that was a long, long time ago. Rarely are electronic tracks ageless compositions.

And this criticism has nothing to do, as someone commented above, with their level of fame. Fame, no fame, I don't care. I want them to succeed. I bought tickets to their July show in San Francisco because I don't want to give up on them just yet. But if they're going to aim their talents at the lowest common denominator, if they continue to tread on the same sounds, knowing their audience is musically savvy, then their July show will be my last.

What the fuck is youre problem? You try to make one of the powerhouse songs they make. The reason they take a long time to bring new stuff out is because it takes so long to make. They make complicated, intricate songs. The newer tracks they're releasing are amazingly complex. Music is defined as an artistic communication through a structured format, so don't tell me this isn't music. You cannot and will not find tracks that hit harder and sound more powerful than what the glitch mob releases. Don't tell me that Flying Lotus is better. It sounds like white noise with a few beats mixed in. And you call Eprom complex...? at least he has the brains enough to get Boreta to help him. LazerSword's tunes are repetative and get annoying quickly. You can get every track free on the internet now, but you still go to concerts with the artists, so how is a GM concert any different?

You people gotta think before you fucking talk. now you look like a buncha dumb asses, who know nothing about the Glitch Mob, or music in general. And if you don't like the people the Glitch Mob hang around (whom seem fine to me), why the fuck are you at this site in the first place? This site is mostly Indie-music which are even weirder people.

Maybe next time you think before you talk you dip shits

That one cannot criticize a novelist or a musician if one cannot write a novel or compose a track is an old, dumb, tiresome argument.

Just as writing sentences like "you people gotta think before you fucking talk. now you look like a buncha dumb asses" is an old, dumb, facebookish way of creating the illusion that you know what you're talking about by aggressively condescending to others.

Just as writing that Flying Lotus sounds like white noise is as asinine as saying that Albert Ayler is just a dissonant trumpeteer.

But one thing you got right, GMG. One can get every track free on the internet now. So concerts have to do more than just repeat the same free tracks. Animal Collective sounds nothing like its records in concerts. Neither does Ornette Coleman. Etc.

This is getting way out of hand. The Glitch Mob is still great, and it sounds like they're on the verge of releasing new material. I can't wait to see what else kraddy cooks up on his own though.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

I've been preaching this for YEARS now. TGM disappointed me the last time they came to the bay, spinning the same shit we've heard countless times before. They barely even mixed that shit up! I know wayyy more local guys who would've ripped that shit SO much fucking harder than these douches.

I was beyond pissed off. These fools are LAZY AS FUCK. There are wayyyy more cats out here killing it that deserve the spot light nowadays, not these ass clowns.

•Lazer Sword
•Mike Slott
•Flying Lotus
•Hudson Mohawke
•Dorian Concept
•Nosaj Thing...

I could seriously go on forever.

TGM are much more talented as individuals. Once they get together, it's sad man. Real fucking sad.
