OPP: Other People's Podcasts

Although we're obviously proud of our weekly XLR8R Podcast series, we also spend time scouring the internet for high-quality offerings that appear on other websites. OPP is a monthly round-up of our favorites.

Shortstuff "Wot You Call It? Ballers Mix" (Via Sonic Router)
Next gen future garage wunderkind Shortstuff (pictured above) made this blazing mix chock full of unreleased gold, promo for his appearance at LuckyMe's Baller's Social Club in Glasgow. Sounds of the next level.

Hackman mix for Blackdown
A fantastic mix from up-and-coming UK funky/wot-u-call-it London producer Hackman. Comprised exclusively of his own productions and remixes, his 30-minute mix for Blackdown is the ultimate teaser for his unreleased catalog. Hackman operates around the 130 bpm range, with loads of warm, bassy grooves, great melodies, and blazing tropical rhythms. Essentially, it's the muscle of UK funky with the bump and flex of classic 2-step. Can't wait to hear more from this promising producer. Check the accompanying interview with Blackdown.

Spam Chop mix for Fresh Out of Death
Nottingham's hit club night Fresh Out of Death steps up its mix series with Blunted Robots affiliate and Wigflex CEO Spam Chop's entry. His truly unique and psychedelic take on the giant grey area formerly known as dubstep is a journey we suggest you take—now!

Jan Krueger for Resident Advisor
A minimal house mix from Hello?Repeat?'s head honcho that is full of soul and does not wear on the nerves. More please.

Farben's 2002 Mutek mix
Mutek opens its magic vaults once again and out pops this microhouse gem from 2002. Jan Jelinek doing his thing as his groovier alter-ego Farben during the great Force Inc. bubble at the turn of the century. Classic.

Oneman's Winter Mix 2009
