Strut to Release Fania Records Retrospective

Strut continues its well-curated, comprehensive look back to the international musical past with a new two-CD compilation highlighting '60s and '70s New York-based Latin music label Fania. Born out of a growing love for the R&B, doo-wop, and soul of the time, musician Johnny Pacheco and lawyer friend Jerry Masucci formed Fania together in 1964 and in turn released much of what would form the salsa style over the the next two decades. The compilation, entitled Fania Records 1964-1980: The Original Sound Of Latin New York, features key moments throughout Fania's release history, from early signees like Louie Ramirez to top-selling artists like Roberto Roena and Ruben Blades. The Fania retrospective is out March 29, and a full tracklist is below.
