Pearson Sound, David Rodigan, Flying Lotus, and More to Play Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in July
Over the past few summers, the bucolic seaside fishing village of Sète has served as the site of the Worldwide Festival. Converging on this town in the South of France, rave tourists from around the globe celebrate electronic sounds of all stripes, which are carefully curated by radio DJ, label head, and all-around dance music champion Gilles Peterson. This year’s festivities take place from July 6 to 10, and will feature a wide variety of tunes on four outdoor stages. Flying Lotus, Pearson Sound, David Rodigan (pictured above), Dâm-Funk, Baths, Derrick Carter, Joy Orbison, Kode 9 & the Spaceape, and Quantic are slated to perform, among many others. The guys from Boiler Room will be broadcasting sets by Young Turks-affiliated artists Jamie xx and Mount Kimbie live, there will be a street party outside the local contemporary art center, and the last day will feature a marathon 18-hour beachfront bash. An Asian branch of the fest will hit Singapore this September, but for now, start searching for that perfect sarong and watch this space for further developments.
