Sonár Adds New Order, James Murphy, DJ Harvey, and Lots More to 2012 Lineups
- Words: Shawn Reynaldo
Back in February, the folks at Sonár announced their expansive plans for 2012, which included events in Cape Town, São Paulo, Brazil, and Tokyo along with the main festival in Barcelona. While the event in South Africa has already passed, excitement continues to build for the remaining three events, especially in the wake of today's announcement naming an entire swath of additional artists that have been confirmed to appear. Since the initial announcement, the Tokyo event, scheduled for April 21 and 22, has added such names as Hudson Mohawke and Teebs to a lineup that already included Squarepusher, Rustie, Mount Kimbie, Dorian Concept, and more. The full details for SonárSound Tokyo can be found here. Sónar São Paulo, scheduled for May 11 and 12, has also expanded its roster of performing artists to include hip-hop heavyweights DOOM and Cut Chemist alongside the likes of Bjork, Flying Lotus, James Blake, Four Tet, Modeselektor, Jeff Mills, and others too numerous to list. Head here to check out the full lineup.
As for Barcelona, scheduled for June 14 to 16, the list of new additions almost reads like a complete festival lineup on its own, as New Order, James Murphy (pictured above), and Untold are just a few of the new names. Red Bull Music Academy will also have an important role, hosting the festival's SonárDome, which boasts a rather impressive lineup in its own right, including DJ Harvey, DJ Spinn & DJ Rashad, Brenmar, Salva, Doc Daneeka, Nguzunguzu, xxxy, and several others. The complete list and all the details can be found here.
