Tormenta Tropical Kicks Off East Coast Tour Tonight

Though born and bred in two of the finest cities on the West Coast, the globally minded dance music jump-off known as Tormenta Tropical is heading east for a small string of tour dates. Resident DJs and Bersa Discos label heads Disco Shawn and Oro11 (both pictured above) will convene with fellow DJs and producers for four exclusive parties in Baltimore, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Brooklyn. Thrill Jockey to Release Boredoms' 77 Boadrum Performance on DVD

We're sure many of you—most certainly ourselves—remember the day, a few years ago, when 77 drummers from around the world amassed in Brooklyn's Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park at the behest of Japanese noise experimentalists Boredoms. July 7, 2007 at 7:07 p.m., the hive of percussionists let loose with a piece of rhythm-centric music written by the veteran Japanese group, and thankfully, Jun Kawaguchi and his various talented crew memebers were there to capture the experience. Thomas Köner to Re-Release First Three Albums on Type

German drone icon Thomas Köner has been pioneering new, strange sounds within the realm of noise and drone music since the early '90s. In those days, the experimental musician and composer wrote and recorded three albums that set the bar for any like-minded music to come. The three records, Nunatak, Teimo, and Permafrost, have long been out of print, but now, thanks to the Type label, they will soon be available as one three-disc collection. Read more »
