FaltyDL and Ikonika Remix Ital Tek

XLR8R favorites FaltyDL and Ikonika have featured remixes on Ital Tek's upcoming EP, Moment in Blue. Ikonika's remix of "Moment in Blue" takes the somewhat dark atmospherics of the original and turns it on its head, crafting a breezy, near-tropical funky track that is perfect for summer, whereas FaltyDL keeps some of the original's shadows in place. Bird Peterson Unveils Drankenstein, Confuses XLR8R Staff

Earlier today, Austin-based DJ/producer Bird Peterson posted a new mixtape, Drankenstein, on the Mad Decent blog. Purportedly inspired by his love of "the Dirty South and the use of trance synths in current rap," Drankenstein features 15 tracks layering crunk acapellas over "classic" trance melodies. New Imprint Glass Table's First Release

New London-based imprint Glass Table is whipping out its first release in June, and it is a slice of pure, deep Detroit-style house from Motor City resident Jimmy Edgar. "Hush" is a ponderous, lush track that shows its debt to Theo Parrish and Moodymann in a most reverent way. With a more frenetic remix courtesy of fellow Detroit wunderkind Kyle Hall also included on the single, the new label is off to a magnificent start. As an audiovisual teaser, check out the VERY, VERY NSFW video of Edgar's original track, available after the jump—just be forewarned that the video includes many close-ups of vaginas, so if that makes you squeamish, then you might want to pass. Video Premiere: Take "Incredibright"

The sonic contrasts of Take's "Incredibright" are numerous—subsonic bass warblings rub against piano tinklings and lovely, melancholic synth melodies ride above dusty, crunchy beats. It makes sense, then, that the video for the first single from Take's Only Mountain debut album features the artist walking in bucolic woods while being hounded by snake-like audio cables. Video: DaVinci "Ben"

Given that San Francisco-based MC DaVinci is giving away The Day the Turf Stood Still for free download, it makes perfect sense that "Ben," the second video from the album, addresses the cult of money and "how far one goes to have material things for both right and wrong reasons." One of the realest rising stars in the hip-hop game, check out our recent interview with him, and then watch the superb video for "Ben." Read more »
