London-based techno producer Max Cooper‘s recent collaborations have exhibited a penchant for finding new junctures between futuristic electronics and stately classical music—his latest remix for experimental composer Nils Frahm had as much melodic sophistication as it did a tough rhythmic foundation. Now, the UK artist has announced a new EP that will be the first in a series of collaborations with contemporary classical composer Tom Hodge. The genesis of each of Fragmented Self Pt. 1‘s four tracks began with Hodge’s solo piano, which Cooper then carefully processed and manipulated, transforming them into abrasive, angular soundscapes that demonstrate his now familiar sense of cinematic detailing. Cooper will follow Fragmented Self Pt. 1‘s October 28 release via FIELDS with a 12-date tour which will see the producer traversing Europe—including stops in Russia and Istanbul—before ending up in Mexico for a slot at the Plus Music Festival. Those dates, along with the EP’s tracklist and artwork, can be found below.
