Following up the announcement of their sophomore album, Planet Mu label boss Mike Paradinas (a.k.a. ?-Ziq) and his wife Lara Rix-Martin, who work together as Heterotic, have released a dream-like video for “Rain (feat. Vezelay),” the first single from their forthcoming Weird Drift LP. The French singer’s lovely falsetto adds an additional layer of intimacy to Heterotic’s gentle waves of retro synth tones, together exuding the same sense of warmth reflected in director Konx-om-Pax‘s visuals. Nebulous, galactic textures coexist with cuts of Vezelay performing the piece with his piercing gaze directed straight ahead. “Rain” is a melodic trek through nostalgia and comfort that maintains a steady atmosphere, and will be released as a single on February 25, before Heterotic’s entire Weird Drift album arrives on April 21.
