Longstanding NYC producer/DJ Fred P (a.k.a. Black Jazz Consortium, pictured above) has turned in a new remix for “Cruel Intentions,” a track pulled from Toronto duo Art Department‘s upcoming Natural Selection LP.

In its original form, “Cruel Intentions” is a vocal-led affair flushed with dark synth sequences (and also featuring Seth Troxler), but in the hands of Fred P, the track is transformed into a dense, rolling production, one which extends just up to the eight-minute mark as it hypnotically weaves liquified textures amongst its shuffling, understated rhythms. Out today via No. 19 Music as part of Art Department’s Cruel Intentions EP (which includes an additional remix from Jerome Sydenham and a beats-only version of Fred P’s rework), the NYC producer’s latest reshape is streaming in full below.
