Italian festival Club to Club (which XLR8R named “Italy’s Best Festival” last year) has again partnered with the British Council and Hyperdub founder Kode9 on the latest edition of A Great Symphony for Torino: an “augmented reality soundtrack” dedicated to the festival’s home city. As the project’s artistic director, Kode9 enlisted label fixture DVA, Italian producer Vaghe Stelle, and other local artists to compose six tracks inspired by different city landmarks, using only sounds from those locations. (He also created a seventh track that composites all six original contributions.) The so-called “symphony” can be heard by scanning QR codes on the billboards in the respective areas in Torino, and is also available to stream on the project’s website and SoundCloud page.

A second phase of the project invites listeners to create their own remix of A Great Symphony for Torino tracks using stems from each production; the winner, selected by Club to Club, will compose a track for the next edition of the project. Full details of the competition, which closes on February 15, are available here, and the 2014 edition of A Great Symphony for Torino can be heard below.
