Junk Science Announces Tour Dates

The Vans Warped Tour is often referred to as "punk rock summer camp," but MC/DJ duo Junk Science is here to ensure a little hip-hop is present in this year's set of dates. Baje One and Snafu only just wrapped a tour with Del the Funky Homospaien, but the two will head back to the road at the end of this week and somehow find a way to fit in among acts like Against Me! and Reel Big Fish. Also joining the tour's hip-hop contingent are indie hero Dante.

Techno Goes to the Olympics

Germany-based Great Stuff Recordings is taking techno into previously uncharted territory on its forthcoming label compilation–namely, the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing.

The double-disc release, simply titled Great Summer Games Stuff, will feature 24 electronic music artists hand-picked from 24 countries participating in the games. Exclusive tracks by everyone from Atomic Hooligan to Iran-born, Berlin-based producer Namito make up the sampler, and though the lineup is diverse, minimal is the main ingredient here.

Alice Russell Tours North America

Alice Russell is an enthusiastic traveler. The Brighton, U.K.-based soul chanteuse toured relentlessly in 2007, darting around every pocket of the Europe and North America, and though we're not even halfway through 2008, she is set to return to the road next week. For this handful of North American dates, she'll be joined by her six-piece Alice Russell Live band, and with their help, show the rest of us how real singing (and crooning) is done.

The Bug Drops London Zoo Album

Can’t teach and old dog new tricks? Tell that to British producer Kevin Martin–he’s learned about 20 new musical tricks in a two-decade career that’s taken him from noise and ambient bands straight into cutting-edge dance music. After stints as a member of late '80s industrial noise rock band Godflesh and collaborator in '90s ambient electronic projects Techno Animal and Experimental Audio Research, Martin ultimately found his voice with experimental dub since 1996 via his moniker, The Bug.
