Stream the New Lone Album

Over the past year, Nottingham-based producer Lone (a.k.a. Matt Cutler) has undertaken quite the reinvention, leaving behind the hip-hop flavored abstraction of his past efforts for something much better suited for the dancefloor. Last summer's "Pineapple Crush" single was the first demonstration of Cutler's new-found love affair with Detroit techno and classic rave, but with his new album, Emerald Fantasy Tracks, coming out next week on his own Magic Wire label, the transformation just might be complete. In time for your weekend pre-funking needs comes a new mix from Contakt, who admittedly is an XLR8R employee but also happens to be an all-around-awesome DJ/producer. (He's actually getting set to release the next record from London imprint Local Action.) As one of the residents of New York's monthly future bass night TURRBOTAX®—which will be welcoming Kyle Hall, Shortstuff, and up-and-coming New York producer Laurel Halo on November 26—Contakt plays host to many of the US' and UK's best underground producers, so we're taking a sec to give him some shine. His latest mix, Fall Back, features a melange of new and unreleased tracks, some from previous TURRBOTAX® guests like Brenmar and Optimum, along with one of Contakt's own productions at the end. Download Mogwai's Debut Single From Their Upcoming Record for Sub Pop

This February, Sub Pop will release Mogwai's seventh full-length album, cryptically titled Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. The record's debut single, "Rano Pano," is available for free download on Sub Pop's website, for the cost of your email address, and a 7" of the single will be available January 18. The Knife to Release 12" With Remixes From Portable and Shinedoe, Offers Download

Back in March of this year, Swedish duo The Knife released its incredible score for the opera Tomorrow In a Year, a musical collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock. Now comes news that one of the standout tracks of the score, "Seeds," is set to be released as a 12" with remixes from Ghostly International's Portable (a.k.a. Check Out Lazer Sword and Sinden Mixes From Kiss Radio

Just the other day on Sinden's radio show for the Kiss station, the DJ/producer hosted the proud fathers of a brand-new debut album, Lando Kal and Low Limit (a.k.a. Lazer Sword, pictured above). Essentially, the broadcast is split into two halves; the first part has Sinden running things with some tracks from Bullion, LV, and Ikonika, among others, and the latter half features Lazer Sword behind the decks. Tim Hecker to Release New Album on Valentine's Day

We had no idea it was even around back then, but according to noise artist Tim Hecker, rave died sometime during 1972. Well, that's the title of his forthcoming new record, anyway.
