Rinse Releasing Compilation of UK Funky Hits

From the collective hub of forward-thinking house and bass music, Rinse, comes a new compilation encompassing the top contemporary jams heard throughout the UK's dancefloors. The release, entitled I Love Funky, is comprised of two discs, each mixed by a separate DJ. Supa D handles the first mix, MA1 (above) the second, and artists the likes of Zinc, Roska, and Major Lazer make appearances on the compilation. Read more »

DOOM to Release Live Album

The metal-faced man now known only as DOOM is set to drop his second live album in his double-decade career as a consistently interesting MC. The forthcoming release is called Expektoration, and features recordings taken from an as-yet-undisclosed NY performance, including renditions of classic DOOM tracks "Kon Karne," "Accordion," and "Change the Beat." Along with DOOM's inimitable flows, his alter-ego King Geedorah and cohort Big Benn Klingon also make appearances. Read more »

Matthew Dear to Release New Album via Ghostly

Three years after his last full-length album, the genre-defying Asa Breed, veteran producer Matthew Dear has finished work on his follow-up album, his fourth full-length, Black City. The new record will be released August 17 on Dear's longtime label, Ghostly, and features 10 tracks of the artist's subtly funky style of twisted pop music—among whatever other random styles he sees fit to sprinkle throughout.
