SXSW 2008 with Saenai's Jay Escobara

March 20 2008

While Kid Kameleon was busy getting the scoop on this year's SXSW Interactive festival, Jay Escobara darted from show to show and the music portion of the festival, capturing everyone from Cut Copy to The Clipse. One of the designers behind Brooklyn-based collective Saenai, Jay is a man-about-town in New York and took this fun-loving with him attitude to Austin, where he fell in love with Matt and Kim, met Andrew Van WynGarden of MGMT, and couldn't get Kid Sister to smile for the camera. Here's his take on this year's mayhem:

Dan Whitford of Cut Copy practices his Ian Curtis everyday!

When does shredding ever go out of style? Tim Hoey of Cut Copy represents well.

Spank Rock shows the crowd how to "get low."

Matt (of Matt and Kim) knows the only way to get the full SXSW experience is to completely "throw yourself in."

Kim works on her killer dance moves.

MGMT's drummer could use a towel to dry off a bit.

The Clipse's Pusha-T fuckin', rocks and if you don't believe me, look at that necklace

The Clipse, Cut Copy and me backstage... I usually like to talk with the bands before I shoot them. It helps me feel less guilty.

Diplo whipped everyone's ass in that entire garage!!! It was pure non-stoppin' bass droppin' booty hopping triz-zax!

Note to parents: HIDE YOUR KIDS!!!
