Following up volumes by Adam Beyer, Shinedoe, and Steve Bug, among others, Swiss DJ/producer Deetron continues Belgian tech-house club Fuse’s mix series. The mix starts out in oscillating, off-center furrows, gradually changing proportions until increasingly flushed with accents—make that jack-cents—borrowed from peak-hour house. A transition through swatches of Gene Hunt, Jerome Derradji, Henrik Schwarz/Âme/Dixon, Adam Marshall, Trus’me, and Redshape goes from pheromone-drunk thump to more cosmic disassociated dub. The set closes out groggy and elated, weaving home through Shackleton’s bleak fades, the Lost Men’s melodic drifts, Radio Slave’s hunching bass, and Mr. Monday’s plinky rapture. The result is a hybrid vehicle–lean efficiency vs. tense congestion, but always crackling with electricity.
