Calibre, birth name Dominick Martin, is a drum and bass and liquid funk, music producer and DJ hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He started producing at a young aged. He is a classically trained musician, playing a variety of musical instruments. Martin started producing Drum and Bass in 1995 and his first signed release was credited under the now defunct Quadrophonic label.
He soon came to the attention of drum and bass DJ Fabio, who signed Calibre to his Creative Source label. While studying Fine Arts at the University of Ulster in Belfast, he became interested in the music of John Cage whose work was influential in titling Martin’s first album release Musique Concrète in 2001. Since his initial releases in 2001, Martin has been known for his consistent signature style and sound.
Short Circuits Magazine refers to him as "one of the quietest people in drum and bass". He shares tracks with only a small circle of friends. Martin has no website or even any blog presence to distribute his tracks online.
Calibre has released more albums than any other Drum n Bass artist. Over 15 years of music production, he has self-published over 60 singles and 10 albums. Also, according to UKF as of 2014, none of his original productions have ever been officially remixed.
Swedish producer Sebastian Ahrenberg has established a reputation as one of the finest purveyors of quality Drum & Bass over a distinguished career that has stretched back over 15 years. From his early tracks on LTJ Bukem’s ground-breaking label Good Looking Records to his more recent work across labels including Metalheadz, Soul:r, Hospital & his own label Seceret Operations, Seba's music has retained a timeless appeal and brings together beats and bass in classic yet inimitable style. Ethereal atmospheres, crisp breaks and sublime bass rhythms are hallmarks of a sound Seba has made his own, with his DJ sets representing this sound to the fullest.
Alongside MC Conrad, MC D.R.S. has managed to successfully bring a human voice to the emotive drum'n'bass music of LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records empire, performing live at their performances and on some of the Progression Sessions albums. While other MCs struggle to merge rapping with the complex rhythms of drum'n'bass in the late '90s, the man otherwise known as Delroy Pottinger has already proven himself as one of the few MCs able to comfortably rap alongside some of the top drum'n'bass DJs in Britain. Like many of the other innovative drum'n'bass artists of the early to mid-'90s, he grew up as a teenager interested in breakdancing and the accompanying hip-hop culture characterized by artists such as Run-D.M.C. and Kurtis Blow. From there, it was a natural progression for Pottinger to begin rapping at the DJ parties. Soon, he was making demo tapes made with turntables, drum machines, and a microphone. By his late teens, he began attending local raves in Manchester and Liverpool before he eventually became the resident MC at Club Xtreme, where Pottinger first met Bukem and MC Conrad. It wasn't long before Conrad personally gave Pottinger a call, asking him to join the Good Looking camp. Since that moment when he became known as MC D.R.S., he has quickly become known as one of the top MCs in the drum'n'bass game, first appearing on Blame's Logical Progression, Vol. 2 and then in a more prominent role on that same DJ's contribution to the Progression Sessions album. In addition to joining the Good Looking DJs during their live performances, Pottinger has also appeared on tracks such as Bukem's "Constellation" and also has become known for his role in the label's live band, Intense.
