To anyone familiar with the steady and flourishing growth of the Romanian dance music scene over the last decade and beyond, Rhadoo needs little introduction. As part of [ar.pi.ar] along with Raresh and Petre Inspirescu, the trio have become de facto ambassadors of a musical ethos that has inspired an entire scene in its wake and is beginning to reach to some of the furthest corners of the globe. Drawing heavy influences from minimalism and restraint in all forms, from giants such as Ricardo Villalobos, and labels like Perlon, through 90s US house music and techno, the Romanian "sound", hard to define in particular, works on dance floors carefully and methodically over long sets and longer parties. Rhadoo in particular maintains a penchant for experimentation with psychedelic texture and percussion layering, regularly playing on three to four decks continuously, and always with an underlying feel for keeping the groove firmly intact and evolving naturally for the benefit of the dancer.
Having produced a refined catalog of original music on labels like Cadenza and [ar:pi:ar], along with excellent and varied remixes that compliment his artistry behind the decks, he continues to experiment and push the limits of his craft. Rhadoo mixed Fabric 72 for the esteemed London club's mix series, plays b2b with Ricardo Villalobos each October at the legendary Robert Johnson in Offenbach, and uses his residencies at hidden underground gems such as Ibiza Underground club on the white isle to perfect his range and explore the vast music collection he has amassed over the years. At the cozy Ibiza venue tucked away from the hype and tourists in the middle of the island, Rhadoo has opened the club for himself, carefully moving through just the right selections and building a mood that would welcome the first dancers, before anyone had yet arrived. It is just business as usual for Rhadoo, every opportunity at the controls is a chance for him to chase the peculiar perfection of weaving a musical tapestry together just right...
