Friday, March 11th • Bar opens 8PM, Club doors 10PM
Kate Simko is a Chicago native whose sets are steeped in the traditions of both the Windy and Motor Cities. Her pedigree boasts releases on Ghostly Int'l, Hello?Repeat, Last Night On Earth and a residency at Chicago's Smart Bar. Flash resident Navbox plays an extended set early. It is #BODYFEEL's extreme pleasure to present another of Smart Bar's finest, junior resident Savile in Flash Bar. This is a DJ for whom the trappings of genres and 'fashion' do not apply. His approach to DJing is irreverent and borderline disrespectful. Expect to dance.

“Chicago changed the dance world once, already, and will again if native daughter Kate Simko has anything to do with it. Born and raised in the city that built house, Kate’s blend of old-school musicality and futuristic beats takes the heritage of house and pushes it towards a shining future.” (Ibiza Voice). Getting started as a DJ in the Midwest, alongside Matthew Dear, Ryan Elliott, and the Spectral Sound crew, Kate Simko has carved her own unique voice as a producer, DJ, and live act. Kate stepped into the scene in 2005, when she was asked to do her first remix – for Philip Glass. She rose to the challenge and never looked back. Since then Kate has cultivated a unique, genre-stepping sound and toured the world with her Chicago-and Detroit-flavored take on house and techno. Kate has amassed notable releases on Spectral Sound, Ghostly, Get Physical, Hello?Repeat, Leftroom, and No. 19, always shining through with her own style of melodic, textural productions. She has collaborated with artists like Tevo Howard, Anthony Collins, Matt Tolfrey, and Ryan Crosson & Cesare Marveille for Visionquest, and remixed artists like Guy Gerber, Lauren Flax feat. Sia, and Laura Jones. Kate is currently in London, where she is getting a post-grad degree in composition for film at the Royal College of Music. When back in Chicago, she’s resident at Smart Bar, alongside Derrick Carter and Frankie Knuckles. Kate’s live set includes an analog drum machine and live keyboards, and her DJ sets have a flair for creative track selection that brings both depth and fun to the party. Some highlight past sets include Berghain and Panorama Bar (Berlin), Fabric (London), the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, MUTEK (Montreal), Eleven (Tokyo), and D-Edge (Sao Paulo). “Not only is Kate Simko a crack producer, continually evolving her unique style of pulsating, nuanced, and sensual house music. She’s also a killer DJ, the type often called a DJs’ DJ, with a wide range and an unfailing knack for finding the hidden thread between disparate tunes.” – Philip Sherburne/ Beatportal
