We are trying to create a ritual space for personal exploration, to release basic tension. The form that society is forcing you to hold, you can release that. It lets you experience that yourself, as yourself, raw, and to connect to the music and reconnect to life. At a place removed from time. The amorphous space, the cave like atmosphere. This ancient psychedelic ritual, that removes you from the loop of the earth, it removes you from time.
The above describes precisely SEQUENCE’s vision for its September 9, 2016 event. So much so we enlist and entrust its author along with three of his midwest followers to create that abstract and amorphous space in a familiar physical realm somewhere in northeast DC. In DC, SEQUENCE concluded, too long has music existed as a familiar art form to be mere accompaniment to conversation or mating ritual. To experience a deep visceral connection must be the aim and no one but the auteur of the Interdimensional Transmissions must be entrusted to this heady task. Of course we speak of BMG or Mr. Brendan Gillen, an electronic music producer, promoter and music scholar for over two decades. In 1994, voices from what he calls a mystic past collided in his head and became host to his enduring and most influential project: Ectomorph. While Ectomorph developed as the mouthpiece to BMG's headspace, Interdimensional Transmissions became his vehicle to imbue his transcendent music and experiences on the masses.
Most famous of these vehicles became an annual Movement Festival event: No Way Back. Reviews of the event ostensibly began in December 2007 and often describe the event as a place where time becomes a continuous loop and consciousness reaches a separate plane. Quite simply BMG brings his most trusted subscribers of his vision to No Way Back and each takes the audience to an ethereal, sensual place detached from reality.
So who better than BMG to bring his Interdimensional Transmissions to DC and who better, in our opinion, than SEQUENCE to replicate his vision of music experience. Based over two rooms, SEQUENCE.909 is a celebration of multi decade, multi genre dance music aimed for the head, space, and the body. Expect enveloping, boosted sound and visual treatments produced for the sole of aim of taking the self to the amorphous cave of sonic, psychedelic experience, out of your normal orbit and returning you not quite the same.
