After an incredible first edition, Sustain-Release returns to Camp Lakota this September 11-13th for Year Two. Sustain-Release is an adventurous music weekend in upstate New York featuring shared cabins and camping for all participants, swimming pools, a lake, a bonfire, and forward-thinking music across two stages.
Expanding on last year’s focus on emerging New York and American talent, Year Two’s lineup includes a wider selection of like-minded innovators from further afield. Germany’s KASSEM MOSSE will deliver one of his delirious live performances with lush textures stretching out atop concussive, loping beats. For over a decade, VERONICA VASICKA’s Minimal Wave label has explored a secret history of overlooked new wave and industrial gems, catalyzing a movement in the process. With the same visionary approach, her offshoot imprint Cititrax explores searing left field techno, which is showcased in her tunneling and cyclonic sets. Berghain resident and local hero ANTHONY PARASOLE will close Saturday night with an extended DJ set; a tidal wave of monolithic arpeggiations and ecstatic moments of brutality.
One of Chicago’s most treasured artists and an advocate for equality in the club community, THE BLACK MADONNA invokes decades of Midwest dance culture through her effortlessly joyous sets. East coast favorites BEAUTIFUL SWIMMERS will headline the pool party this year, weaving the kind of experimental and buoyant house, new age curveballs and cosmic cuts that have defined their Future Times label. Throwing conventional genre tropes to the wind, 21-year-old VIA APP conjures a frenetic world through her live performances, where syrupy chords ooze between bubbly leads and erratic samples. White Material’s GALCHER LUSTWERK joins for a DJ set of his melancholic, seductive and hip hop-inflected house. Both indoor stages will be equipped with boutique sound from SUBBASS SOUND SYSTEM and immersive lighting installations by NITEMIND. Many more exciting artists will be announced on June 16th.
Sustain-Release is the collaboration between Aurora Halal, artist, musician & creator of Brooklyn's Mutual Dreaming parties, and longtime music writer, promoter, and employee of halcyon, NTS & Underground Quality, Zara Wladawsky. There will be a bar on site by CAMEO, and a cantina with a variety of food options for sale. Local partners include Bossa Nova Civic Club. Camp Lakota is a summer camp nestled among the Catskills Mountains in Wurtsboro, NY.
Year Two tickets are limited to 700. Due to limited capacity, a membership-only ticketing system has been established for last year's attendees, as outlined on our ticket page on the website. Parking on site is limited, so shuttle buses between Brooklyn and Camp Lakota will be available at an additional low cost.
Round One & Two tickets have sold out! We'll re-open June 16 3PM EST, with final lineup and Round Three tickets. Cabins spots will be $165 (final price), and camping $130-150.
