Inspired by the classic Rubik’s Cube and the revered 808 drum machine, the 808 Cube app provides a fun way to make quick beats using one’s browser. It’s also a great way to waste some time on the internet today.

Developed as part of the Chrome Cube Lab—which allows developers to use the Rubik’s Cube shape as a platform for various web apps—the 808 cube offers would-be beatmakers the ability to program patterns with 808-style kicks, snares, hi-hats, cymbals, cowbells, and various percussion samples. Furthermore, one can also drop their own samples into the cube to make custom beats (the video below explains more about how to do just that).
