Last time we heard from the two UK teenagers in Bondax (a.k.a. George Townsend and Adam Kaye, pictured above), they had just polished off a single for Raffertie‘s Super imprint and climbed to the third spot on our Top 20 Downloads of March. More recently, the boys have (sort of) resurfaced with an EP for Four40 that includes two remixes of Bondax’s 2011 single “Just Smile For Me,” one of which arrives courtesy of fellow UK artist Last Japan (a.k.a. Marco Giuliani). “Just Smile For Me (Last Japan Remix)” focuses less on Bondax’s oscillating swells of low end and more on the dizzying, electrifying synth sounds the remixer was able to tease out of the original. Thankfully, both versions leave enough room for vocalist Bobbie Gordon to flex her lungs over the clatter of garage-leaning, rimshot-heavy rhythms. It’s a solid tune to sink your teeth into while you await the latest work from Bondax, which is purportedly on its way in the near future.
