Brooklyn-based producer Jakub Alexander (a.k.a. Heathered Pearls) sent over one of the tracks from his forthcoming debut LP for Ghostly, Loyal. Driven only by soft pads and gentle white noise, “Beach Shelter” congeals within a hollow, atmospheric space rather than a solid beat. It’s a blanket of warm, calming tones that evoke sentimental moods, which is fitting given that the record was inspired by Alexander’s mother and aunt (who also adorn the artwork, above). Further explaining the creative process behind Loyal, he conceded, “I wanted to find a world that was built on repetition, erosion, and melody, because making these songs was about recreating soothing environments.” Look for the rest of Heathered Pearls’ Loyal when it drops on December 11.
