Obsession is the latest release to come from the hands of Mr. Gasparov, a Barcelona-based DJ/producer who has been working under the radar for years. Taken from that forthcoming EP, “Playtime” is, well, a playful little production. A bouncing bassline and slightly skittering beat move the track forward while side-chained chords and a small army of percolating melodies bend around the track’s rhythmic core. Between the laughing children samples and buoyant, funk-infused synth twists, it’s clear that “Playtime” is a tune that values fun over dark seriousness.
