Dublin’s Apartment label has been, according to an informal credo, “immune to the hype machine since 2011.” Operating as a vinyl-only outfit, Apartment has here offered up a cut laced with snarling acid lines and stomping percussion from VernoN‘s forthcoming issue, Watched by the Experts. ”Plastic Illusion,” like each of the six tracks included on the upcoming mini-LP, carries the genetic codes of new beat and EBM: a consequence of the elusive producer’s early exposure to Belgium’s club scene in the ’80s. Watched by the Experts follows three previous VernoN EPs for Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, and will see an official release in the beginning of June.
