Artifice Records is a UK-based label out of Bournemouth and Southampton that recently crafted a 10-track compilation showcasing a wide swath of bass, garage, and house music’s most promising newcomers. Artifice Records VA Vol. 1 has hardly been available for purchase for more than two weeks, but the compilation has already gained recognition in the playlists of DJs and tastemakers all over the scene. This new release touts a roster of quickly rising artists that includes a track by GRNDWRK label boss, Corporal F. This refreshing and unique direction that Corporal F assimilates into his new track “Gunman” is something that we at XLR8R have been searching everywhere for. The track could be easily classified as a breaks track, but there is a certain dub finesse to Corporal F’s style that grabs you right from the start and makes the track immediately discernible as a heavy-weight growler designed to help DJs shift moods and begin to move dance floors. “Gunman” eventually lifts upwards into even more of a percussion-based track as it rounds off during the last minute, leaving the listener hyped-up and ready for more.

You can pick up your copy of Artifice Records VA Vol. 1 by heading over to Juno, and you can find out more about the label’s past releases by visiting the Artifice Records web store on Bandcamp.
